Sorry about the lack of posting for those of you who actually read my whimpy wedding blog. I have been slightly distracted recently with:
- waiting impatiently for bar results
- looking for job opportunities (both now part time anything or post results full time law)
- finding the perfect place to move to in Wichita with Bobby
- arranging for moving stuff for Bobby cause he is busy with school
- baking a ton of cookies (like 40ish dozen) for my mom's office for some event
- walking my puppy in the sun
- trying to loose law school weight
- cooking dinner every night in attempts to eat healthy and cheap
- waiting impatiently for bar results
- organizing to move
- editing and re-arranging my resume a million and one ways
- looking for furniture for apartment
- shopping for dresses for graduation/summer wedding season/swearing in (fingers crossed)
- waiting for bar results
Sorry for the lack of posting. I will get back to it soon as I have an inbox of about 400 emails from North Carolina wedding vendors because I filled out 1 form asking for info. Most interesting of the emails so far is the officiant/cake baker/caterer (yeah 1 person does all 3!) and i haven't decided if that is a good thing or a bad one.

Cake Toppers
Cake toppers have ventured way out of the traditional it seems like. Just about any thing you can think up you can find for a cake topper. Here are some of our choices:
Animals
Although the moose in this picture don't really seem right it could be fun if they were more personalized. I often call Bobby my old crab (long story that I will have to share at some point, bottom line is we say a sign that says old crab lives here sometime near Bobby's birthday a couple years back and since I always tease him about how he is old it just stuck) and he often calls me squirell after seeing me in my AU graduation garb in the wind and claiming I looked like a flying squirrel.
We could also do something tied closer to the beach theme of our wedding. These sea gulls are cute and remind me of something out of a Disney movie but they aren't really what I want, I think.
Doves or love birds are kinda tradition and I like the non-traditional slant to these. In the wedding colors they could maybe work.
Although I have avoided most of the traditional elements of a wedding I kinda like these traditional birdies. We will keep them as a possibility but I ultimately think they are out.
People

These are kinda cute but seem a little too cheap looking to me. Fun part of this idea is I could make them myself and make them look like us.
I guess these little wooden people are popular. These are cute cause they are more beachy looking.
This one so far is my favorite. Something like this personalized to look like us (and maybe include our sweet puppy) so far is the winner, assuming Bobby likes it and I choose to even use a cake topper.

Bridesmaid Dress Ideas
I have been looking for a while and have yet to come to any conclusions regarding my bridal party and what they will wear. I have so many special people in my life and so many people I want to include it is difficult to make these decisions. While I avoid the ultimate decision of who will be in the bridal party I have been distracting myself with pretty dresses and dress options for the yet to be determined bridal party. The color pallet for the wedding is tentatively yellow and green with brown shades and white as the neutrals but it is flexible. I am really leaning towards a printed/floral/patterned bridesmaid dress for something different so I need to find the dress to decide absolutely on a color pallet overall because i think the dress will dictate the colors. Well here are the ideas so far...
Dress 1
This was one of the first dresses that I fell in love with, the only problem is I don't love the price. It is from some boutique in NYC and it isn't cheap. It is however in the right colors, super cute and this patterned fabric comes in like 5 different dress styles allowing flexibility for different body shapes. Overall though I just don't think I am ok with the price so the search continues.
Dress 2
This one from Nordstrom has a much happier price and I think it is adorable. Only problem is that it doesn't offer different styles to accommodate different body shapes. What are the chances that 1 dress style will look great on all of the bridesmaids? Heck I don't even know for sure who will be bridesmaids.
Dress 3
I like the colors in this one and the prices is reasonable but is it too busy? Does the cut look like it may look awful on everyone? It comes in a solid blue also which I like because then we can mix and match.
Dress 4
I also like the simplicity of this dress. It just doesn't seem as busy as some of the others. The cut is also great and has more potential for working on a variety of people than a strapless dress does. So what do you think? What is your vote?

Big News and The Wedding Registry
This week has been a great get away to DC and I was able to spend some time with Bobby. While I was hanging out in DC we did a little bit of wedding planning but became slightly distracted by finding out that BOBBY GOT A JOB!!
He will be the newest intern in the Sedgwick County Manager's Office for the next year. Real salary, real health insurance, real work!! YAY! I am so proud of him and am sooooo EXCITED that he is officially coming to Kansas! We have been talking about this for a while but now it is officially happening so I am stoked! Although wedding planning is still on the radar now things are temporarily shifting to moving, decorating a new house and figuring out a new city! We spent most of the vacay planning the move, scoping out new apartments, picking out paint colors (he is letting me paint!!) and figuring out all of the logistics. His mom was great and has already gotten some of the essentials we will need (kitchen towels, glass bakeware, bath rugs, etc) but the excitement of our first official new place together (that isn't temporary like last summer was) is making me want to SHOP!
With all of this my mind is also trying to keep wedding registering in the back of my mind. We need some stuff to get by for the year or so between the big move and the wedding but I want to make sure that we don't go overboard now and anything we get will work into an overall plan for the place. Ok, well enough rambling, this is post is just going to be fun wedding registry ideas and things I love so far. I need opinions and reminders to make sure I don't end up with a pink house full of flowers and lace and all things girly that Bobby refuses to live in. So on with the ideas and questions....
Can I really register for sporks like this one from Pottery Barn?? And why would one want a spork and a spoon, isn't the point of a spork so that you only have to have 1 utensil?

Is black stemware really ok? I love the idea of it but wonder how practical it is. Right now our kitchen table is glass and silver so it could work but I know Bobby has dreams of a big wooden kitchen table one day. Would black stemware look silly with his traditional dream table? Probably.

A strawberry slicer from Sur La Table? How lazy am I allowed to be? Really all that is necessary is a knife but is getting married an excuse to have every random kitchen gadget that may be remotely helpful in the future? I like this one but so many gadgets just seem to be a waste of space.

How many fun cake pans and such can I have? Doughnuts could be fun! And little tarts! Oh my I could handle just about ever cake/tart/baking pan created by man but when is enough enough?
Ok and now on to things I love.. do you love them too? Are they too girly?

We are thinking green and yellow for the bedroom and I love these, especially the center one.
I love this bedding but is I struggle with figuring out shades. I like the mustard-y color here but I also love sunshine yellow. Why does house decorating and what not have to be so difficult?
And how many fun serving things can one girl own. My future mother in law already got me to cake stands which I am sure I will thoroughly enjoy but how fun is this??
Glass dinnerware. Curious. I love the idea of it. I would be able to have fun and be a little ADD with my decorating and wouldn't have to worry about making sure things somewhat coordinate with whatever fun centerpiece or table or whatever that catches my eye. But what is the downside? Will they always have water spots that will drive me crazy?
Ok well that is enough of a random rambling for today. I better go but stay in touch and let me know what I should do. The next couple of months are going to bombard us with decisions to make and I would love the advice and help making all these decisions.
